I'm Adil, and this is my story.
I work with different programs at AHRC New York. I am originally from a small village 14/G-D in Okara, Pakistan. I moved to New York in 1999 when I was 15. Pakistan does not have schools for people with disabilities, so after moving to the United States, I went to school for the first time in my life. Also after moving to the U.S.A., I had medical procedures that allowed me to walk and close my mouth. When I was living in Pakistan, my parents had to carry me everywhere. After my surgeries in the U.S.A., I exercised and worked very hard everyday to gain strength. I was determined to have a better life!
